The Meaning Behind CDJ
The name CDJ stands for Chris, David, and Jordan, representing the family foundation on which this company was built. It is a tribute to our late mother, Christine (Chris) MacPhail, whose love, resilience, and unwavering support continue to guide our journey. The name came to life when David’s younger brother, Jordan, jokingly suggested “CD Enterprize Ltd.” to represent Chris and David. Inspired by the sentiment, David added the “J” for Jordan—transforming a lighthearted idea into a lasting legacy of love, family, and purpose.
Our Story: In 2016, David MacPhail launched his first venture, Oceanside Websites, at just 18 years old. What began as a small web development business quickly evolved into a multi-industry enterprise built on integrity, hard work, and the belief that business should always be personal. Over the years, CDJ Enterprize Ltd. has grown to include a diverse group of companies—each driven by a shared commitment to service, quality, and sustainability.
Today, our portfolio includes CDJ Metal Recycling, which provides environmentally responsible recycling services for individuals and businesses; Oceanside Websites, offering modern web design and digital solutions for clients of all sizes; CDJ New N’ Used, a retail venture promoting reuse, resale, and community-focused sustainability; XCite Toys, a bold and unapologetic adult toy brand delivering premium, hardcore gear for those seeking unforgettable experiences; and Midnight Sun Landscaping, our property care and landscaping division proudly serving residential and commercial clients across Vancouver Island.
Though these businesses operate in different sectors, they are all connected by a central mission: to create lasting value through trust, innovation, and strong relationships with our clients and communities.
Our Leadership: The leadership of CDJ Enterprize Ltd. is made up of individuals who bring passion, expertise, and a shared vision for sustainable success. David MacPhail, our Founder, President, and CEO, continues to lead the organization with drive and purpose, shaping the long-term vision while staying hands-on in day-to-day operations. Working alongside him is Christopher, Client Relations & Business Operations Manager, whose experience and attention to detail ensure seamless service across our divisions. Ace , Vice President and Co-Owner of Midnight Sun Landscaping, brings a powerful mix of leadership, energy, and customer focus to our growing property services division.
David, Christopher, and Ace are Class A shareholders, with full voting rights and active involvement in all key aspects of company operations and strategy. Their leadership represents the core of CDJ Enterprize Ltd.—grounded in integrity, unity, and a deep understanding of what it means to build a business from the ground up.
Jordan MacPhail, who once held Class A shares and was part of the founding identity of the company, has since stepped away from operations. His shares were converted to Class B, a non-voting class that reflects his continued connection to the company’s origin, even as he focuses on other pursuits.
Richard (Rick) MacPhail also transitioned from the board by exchanging his Class A shares for Class B shares. Although he is no longer part of the governance structure, Rick remains an integral member of the CDJ family, serving as Operations Manager for CDJ Metal Recycling, where he continues to lead with deep knowledge and long-standing commitment.
At the heart of CDJ Enterprize Ltd. is the enduring presence of Christine (Chris) MacPhail, the beloved mother of David and Jordan. Though she passed away in 2017, her influence remains woven into every part of this company. As the “C” in CDJ, Christine’s legacy lives on in the values we uphold—family, resilience, compassion, and strength. Her memory continues to shape our culture and our mission, and she will forever be considered a cornerstone of our leadership and our story.
